Tchaikovsky: Symphony No.4 (arr. Taneyev)
A programme mashing-up 2 well-loved works for 4-hands by Debussy and Fauré with an amazing arrangement by Taneyev of Tchaikovsky’s ‘fateful’ Symphony No.4. Tchaikovsky visited Paris many times from the 1860s onwards, and loved the rich excitement of life there. He would undoubtedly have met these composers there. One wonders what he would have thought of the music by these ‘modernists’!
